Nursery

In maths this week, the children helped to count out different amounts of dog biscuits to feed the dogs.  They worked out the numbers that they didn’t recognise by counting the corresponding number of dots on the pieces of numicon.

Afternoon Nursery were treated this week to a music and movement session led by ‘Little Movers’.  The children loved taking part in the under the sea themed activities that helped to develop their gross motor skills, turn taking and listening skills and creativity.

The nursery children are really enjoying learning all about how to care for pets. Today they took part in puppy training. First in class they watched some dogs doing agility courses at Crufts. Then they got into pairs, a puppy and an owner in each pair. Outside they taught their puppies to walk on

This week in Nursery, we have been busy setting up a new vet’s surgery role play area.  The children have been finding out about the role of a vet and the other staff that work in the surgery.  They have enjoyed pretending to be receptionists, pet owners and vets.

The nursery children went into our Forest School today to learn about how to care for the school hens. Before heading outside we talked about what are the important jobs we need to do to keep our pets safe. Just like us, clean water, food and a safe place to sleep hopefully means our hens are happy

On Friday, the children in Reception and Nursery had a fantastic treat. The story teller Chris Bostock came to share with us a story called ‘Starlight’. Nursery children continued to learn about composting this week. They headed out to the Reception garden to collect the fallen leaves, these will make a nutritious addition to their compost bin. They are already collecting their fruit waste each day and any plant materials from their garden.  Despi
