Come and Play the Forest School Way

Years 1 and 2 are growing in confidence with every Forest School session that they enjoy, being mentored by our Year 6 Outdoor Workers really extends their learning too.

This week they have been getting used to handling the new hens. We have 8 new ones, 3 Silkies, that are a small breed, 3 large fowl and 2 Pollard bantams that are very funny looking birds. They are very friendly but need to be handled a lot before they are set off to free range. They have now settled in with our original flock who are slowly getting used to the young newcomers. Meanwhile its that time of year again where we collect leaves for mulching so some children got busy raking. Others were very focused in the mud kitchen, creating all sorts of disgusting recipes!  Some went climbing and balancing, swinging in the trees and doing some creative work using clay. Its been so lovely to have a bit of mild weather to enjoy before winter really sets in.

Principle 4: Forest School offers learners the opportunity to take supported risks appropriate to the environment and to themselves.

Article 27: We all have the right to a good standard of living.
