National Nursery Rhyme Week

This week, the children in Reception have been taking part in National Nursery Rhyme Week.  This year, the suggested rhymes were B-I-N-G-O, The Big Ship Sails on the Alley, Alley, o, Twinkle, Twinkle, 12345 Once I Caught a Fish Alive and 5 Little Speckled Frogs.

The children enjoyed performing these and other rhymes in our puppet theatre using the microphone. They also enjoyed doing lots of activities inspired by these rhymes.  Some of the activities included: making their own boats and testing if they floated in the water tray.  Outside they had fun making their own pirate ships and catching magnetic fish.  The children also explored spelling out words with the magnetic letters and with letter cutters in the play-dough area and making star constellation pictures in the writing area with chalks and stickers.
