Reuse, Reduce, Recycle!

In Reception this week, we enjoyed reading the story ‘Somebody Swallowed Stanley’. This is about a sea creature who swallowed a plastic bag. We talked about ways we can help protect the sea and the environment by reducing, reusing, and recycling. The children explored different materials and practised sorting recycling into paper, plastic, cardboard, and tins. Using recycled materials, we had lots of fun creating our own models and thinking creatively about how we can reuse items instead of throwing them away. At the end of the story, the boy turned the plastic bag into a kite, which inspired us to make our own kites. We took our kites outside and had lots of fun flying them together. It was a fantastic week of learning, creativity, and learning about how to care for our environment.
