Stick Towers

Year 3 took on the Stick Tower Challenge which is harder than it looks. This is a construction task but it also requires good, positive team work.

How do you use your knowledge of construction to build a tower of sticks?

  • work in teams minimum of 2 people maximum of 4
  • only use sticks; no large branches or logs
  • no string or tape allowed
  • the tower must be free standing (not leaning against anything)
  • team members must not interfere with other teams work
  • Tower must support an egg for 10 seconds

As you can see the children employed a variety of techniques to try and gain some height to their tower, this challenge is continued throughout school and each year we see progression of skills applied.

Principle 1: Forest School is a long-term process of frequent and regular sessions in a woodland or natural environment, rather than a one-off visit. Planning, adaptation, observations and reviewing are integral elements of Forest School.

Article 6: We all have the right to be alive and to develop in the best possible way.
