The Magpie and His Nest

MagpieIn nursery this week, linking to the RSPB Big School Birdwatch, the children learnt about Magpies’.  They listened to the magpies chatter, this bought lots of laughs, then they were told a traditional tale about the magpie and its nests. A cold and crisp morning again so we wrapped up and headed out, with our collecting bags, into the forest school. In the story the children heard how the magpie tries different materials to make the most impressive of nests, so they looked for things that caught their eyes. Back in class, just like the magpie, using a muddy base, they started to weave their own nests.
