Summer Fun in Reception

This week in Reception, we have been learning about the artist, Vincent Van Gough.  The children enjoyed listening to a variety of stories about Vincent Van Gough’s work, including: Camille and the Sunflowers; Katie and the Sunflowers and Katie and the Starry Night.  We also went on a virtual tour of the Van Gough museum in Amsterdam.  In our painting area, the children experimented with mixing their own powder paints to create different shades of orange and yellow to create their own sunflowers, which they then displayed in our very own art gallery.  In literacy, we chose our favourite Van Gough paintings and wrote sentences about them.  In PHSE, we learnt all about keeping safe in the sun and enjoyed making our own sunshine collages.  In P.E this week, we explored travelling across the mats in different ways and learnt how to land safely when jumping off a box.  Take a look at the photos below to see what we have been getting up to.
