Nature and Nurture

In our Forest School the children learn how to confidently find and use natural materials. They recognise the properties of the living world around them so that they can then use it to their best advantage. They do this by gathering materials whilst still ensuring that the plants are protected and nurtured. It is a balance between taking what you need and minimising the ecological impact.

This week the children also discovered how relaxed our free-ranging hens are because they have now started laying clutches around the site. This inspired some really beautiful nest building.

The Nature Principle: Forest School takes place in a woodland or natural wooded environment to support the development of a relationship between the learner and the natural world.

Article 6: We all have the right to be alive and develop in the best possible way.
