This week in Reception, we have been learning about the life cycle of a frog. We read the story Growing Frogs and explored lots of new vocabulary, including frogspawn, tadpole, froglet and adult frog. The children enjoyed learning about the different stages and discussing how frogs change as they grow. In our creative learning, we practised drawing our own frogs. Before painting them, we became colour scientists and experimented with colour mixing to discover which colours make green. The children loved testing their ideas and using their new knowledge to paint their frog pictures. During Forest School, we took a trip to our pond to investigate the type of environment frogs like to live in. We looked carefully around the pond and talked about why frogs need water, plants and shelter. Although we didn’t spot any frogs this time, we are hopeful that we might see one or two over the coming weeks as we continue to explore the area.
Article 29 : children have the right to an education that helps them learn, develop their talents and abilities, and respect the natural environment.
