Remembrance Day

As usual, to mark Armistice Day at Harlow Green, this morning the school fell silent in a period of remembrance.

Our school’s head pupils also attended Low Fell’s Remembrance Service which was held at The Boer War Memorial. The Mayor of Gateshead, ex-service men, members of the military, members of the emergency services, community members and children from schools in our area attended the service to pay their respects to those who fought for their country and those who serve today. The head pupils wrote a message of remembrance on their wreath and laid it at the war memorial to represent our school community. Despite the rain, it was a beautiful service, and our head pupils represented us with respect and pride.

Tonight, at Mrs Chapman’s art club, after school, the Year 2 children created fields of poppies using paint and crayons. The pieces the children produced were extremely attractive and the children had a lovely time.
