Halloween Fun

This week, we’ve had a fantastic time exploring all things Halloween! The children have really embraced the spooky theme with lots of curiosity and creativity. We began by reading ‘Funnybones’ and learning about the main bones in our bodies, including the skull, spine, ribs, and pelvis. The children loved meeting Mr Bones, our life size skeleton and then making their own skeleton pictures using art straws and had great fun drawing skeletons in their Squiggle and Wiggle books. We also enjoyed reading What’s in the Witch’s Kitchen?, which inspired some messy fun in the mud kitchen! The children followed pictorial recipes, practising their maths skills by exploring quantities, numbers, and capacity. In Literacy, we read Meg and Mog and worked on our Fred Talking by putting spooky items into Meg’s cauldron – sounding out words like c-a-t, r-a-t, and b-a-t. We also explored rhyming words through stories, songs and games. We finished the week with a fabulous Halloween fancy dress party – thank you for all the amazing costumes! It was a brilliant end to a fun-filled week.
