Here Comes the Snow

Reception children went out into the beautiful snow this morning. No wind just buckets of snow. What delight they took in catching it in their mouths! Staring straight up into it and seeing how many flakes you can count. Can you beat 36? Creating snow angels. Then we did some creeping in the woods. Listening to the sounds and realising how much the snow dampens all the noises we made.

Eventually hands got too cold and we headed back into school. In class we are beginning to learn about trees and why they are so important. The children played some Woodland Trust games, labelling the parts of a tree and then we investigated what kind of animals make trees their home. A lovely morning immersed in nature.

Principle 2: Forest School takes place in a woodland or natural wooded environment to support the development of a relationship between the learner and the natural world.
