Campfire Pancakes

Pancakes around the fire for our Year 4 and Reception children this week. Whilst they ate, the older children could practice their whittling skills and try their hand at using flint and steels. Hungry work indeed. This kind of task needs a calm environment and patience, the children worked together and shared their knowledge helping those that found it challenging.

For Reception the children enjoyed the Forest School in a carousel of activities, Music with Mrs. Holt on the main stage, Mini-dens and rope lines with Miss Heron and Mrs. Cunningham. Then pancakes and milk around the campfire with Miss Rowe. A very busy day, feasting and exploring forest style.

Working with and around fire is a important aspect of the children’s Forest School journey. Helping them to enjoy the benefits of risk in a safe environment.

Principle 4: Forest School offers learners the opportunity to take supported risks appropriate to the environment and to themselves.
