Reading Stars

It has been a busy few weeks at Harlow Green – with an author visit, Star Reader tests and lots of reading activities in class in English going on. It is always pleasing to look at the Reading Plus and Accelerated Reader websites to see how much effort the children have been putting into their reading at home and at school. At Harlow Green, we see reading as one of the foundations of learning and it is extremely important that children are reading regularly – at least 4 times a week at home (although getting into a habit of reading before bed each night is brilliant as part of a calm and structured bedtime routine.)

Over the last couple of weeks, many individual children and classes have achieved over 80% for their comprehension scores, which is brilliant.

This week’s reading stars are

Accelerated Reader: Class5B with an average percentage of 83.6%

Reading Plus: Class 4A with an average reading score of 83%.

It was incredibly close with 5 of the 8 classes scoring 80% and above. Keep it up Harlow Green reading stars!
