Let the Building Begin

Come and play the Forest School way. Many of our Reception children have already learned so much about enjoying this wilder environment safely during their years in our nursery. Now they can hone their skills and get creative. Those children then support children who are new to Harlow Green and help them discover the joy of the great outdoors. The use of space is introduced gradually based on observations of the children. This week they were taken out in small groups to a pre-defined area. Lots of interesting things to see, touch, smell and be inspired by. The task is creating a home for our little furry, forest friend. The dens ranged from the simple to the elaborate, at the end of the session children were given time to look at each others builds and try them out.

Principle 1: Forest School is a long-term process of frequent and regular sessions in a woodland or natural environment, rather than a one-off visit. Planning, adaptation, observations and reviewing are integral elements of Forest School.
