Reception Take Part in Sign Language Week

This week, Reception class had a brilliant time taking part in Sign Language Week. We’re especially proud to learn more about British Sign Language because we have a friend in our class who uses cochlear implants, and it’s important to us that everyone can communicate and feel included. Our wonderful support staff ,Jill, Gillian and Michaela, led the way with enthusiasm and skill. Jill spent an entire day communicating only in BSL, showing the children just how expressive and fun sign language can be. She even read us a story using BSL, and the children were completely captivated. Michaela taught us the Colours of the Rainbow song in BSL, and the whole class joined in with excitement. We loved learning new signs and discovering how we can use our hands, faces and bodies to communicate. It’s been a great week of learning, inclusion and respect  and we are excited to keep using our new skills.
