Gardening Club – Pondlife

Our gardening club have been working to sort out our school ponds. We want to rejuvenate our existing ones which are really focused on being wildlife friendly and create a new one that has better access for dipping. They decided to use one of our big raised beds to set it up. This has many positives, one being not having to dig through 6 inches of earth then a layer of hardcore. Not much fun, which Bob and Miss Rowe found out when they put our original pond in back when the Forest School first started. The raised bed has access all around and is out in the open rather than under lots of trees. They worked out the size of the hole needed then got to work digging. The earth removed was used in our other raised beds which they cleared last half term.

The Nature Principle: Forest School takes place in a woodland or natural wooded environment to support the development of a relationship between the learner and the natural world.

Article 28: We all have the right to a good quality education.
