The children in Year 2 enjoyed an exciting treasure hunt outdoors in our school grounds this week. They were set a challenge to listen to some clues which would help them to guess what their English text would be this half term. The first clue was ‘Your book is set in the deep, blue sea. Find the water, oh, where it could be?’, which led them to our forest school pond and then to other clues which were a wooden snail, a wooden whale and a globe. The final clue led to the book ‘The Snail and the Whale’ by Julia Donaldson. This week, the children have been enjoying a wide range of Julia Donaldson’s stories, such as Zog, The Gruffalo and What the Ladybird Heard Next. They have enjoyed listening to all of the rhyming words in the books and adding new ones to their lists. Great reading everyone!
