Reception have had a busy and exciting time learning about Africa. We started by reading We All Went on Safari and A is for Africa, which helped us learn about African animals, landscapes and daily life. We then enjoyed Tinga Tales and explored the colourful artwork of Edward Tingatinga. The children created sunset colour‑wash backgrounds and printed African animals using stencils in his style. Miss White also showed us traditional clothing, jewellery and photographs she collected while working in Africa, which the children found fascinating. In the creative area, they made their own jewellery using beads, pasta and paper plates. During music time, the children explored African drums and copied simple rhythms together.
Article 29 – Education should help children learn to live peacefully, protect the environment and respect other people.
