Easter in Reception

This week in Reception we have been learning all about the celebration of Easter.

We began by listening to the story ‘Little Dove and the Story of Easter’ which helped us gain a clear understanding of the what the celebration is all about. After the story and watching ‘My first Festivals’, we learnt that Easter represents the beginning of new life and remembers Jesus. On Easter Sunday people might go on an Easter egg hunt or eat chocolate eggs.

In the classroom, we began to decorate our Easter cards. We started by painting a chick with yellow paint before adding yellow feathers and eyes. Later in the week, we continued the Easter celebrations by making chocolate crispy cakes. The children enjoyed melting the chocolate and mixing it together with the rice crispies, before adding a chocolate egg on top. Then, the Easter bunny arrived and delivered the children a crème egg to enjoy.  The children are looking forward to eating their delicious cakes and eggs as well as giving their card to their loved ones.
