The Art of Nature

In Forest School sessions this week we have been focusing on the changes in nature as the Summer season unfolds. The children were shown how to pick from living plants and trees without causing lasting damage. Then they used the things they had collected to create images. The younger children mostly focused on creatures, real life ones or from their imaginations. Some children created patterns, where others made scenes with stories. This is a very open activity allowing the children use their intrinsic motivation in their work. The variety was really interesting to see, during reflection at the end of the session the children explained their ideas to the class who then gave their feedback. Beautiful weather helped, a very happy and creative start to this half term.

Principle 2: Forest School takes place in a woodland or natural wooded environment to support the development of a relationship between the learner and the natural world.

Article 13 – We all have the right to share what we learn, think and feel with others.
