EYFS Home Learning – Week 6

It has been great looking at the photos of the amazing things EYFS have been doing this week at home.  Children have been enjoying the daily Read, Write Inc phonics lessons online and have followed this up working on their spelling and letter formation.  Some children have also been writing lists, labelling pictures and filling in information for their Covid-19 time capsules.  We have also seen lots of examples of mathematical development, including: representing number bonds using real objects; counting and matching numbers; measuring quantities when baking bread, cakes, cheesecake and homemade pizzas and measuring height.  Lots of children also report that they have enjoyed looking at books on Oxford Owl as well as reading books from home and using these books to develop role play games.  Families have also continued to kep fit with Joe Wicks and they have enjoyed walks, collecting natural materials to make collages and looking carefully at the world around them.

Over the past couple of weeks, Miss Hawley and Miss Bradshaw have enjoyed catching up with families on the telephone.  We still have some families to contact and we look forward to catching up with you soon.  We have also enjoyed keeping in touch via Tapestry and our EYFS email address [email protected].  Please keep sending your pictures and look out for our new weekly post each Monday with writing, maths and topic ideas that you may enjoy trying at home.

The staff in EYFS have also been keeping busy this week.  Miss Bradshaw has learnt to make quiche and had a go at cutting her own hair!  She has also been teaching her daughter to use the sewing machine.  Miss Hawley has been making delicious homemade pizza and flatbread and going on lots of walks in the pleasant weather.  Mrs Cunningham has been planting grass seed and decorating her kitchen, Miss Heron has been going on long runs with her sister and Mrs Anderson has been enjoying spending time in her garden.  We are all missing you and hope to see you again soon.
