This week, Year 5 have begun an exciting new Science unit all about Space!
To start their new unit, the children explored the planets in our solar system and discovered the differences between rocky planets and gas planets. They retrieved key information about each planet, learning which are smaller and solid, like Mercury and Mars, and which are much larger and made mostly of gas, like Jupiter and Saturn. The children were fascinated to find out how unique each planet is.
To showcase their learning, the children created impressive double-page spreads in their Science books. Their work identified:
- The size of each planet
- The length of time it takes for each planet to complete one full rotation (a day)
- A fascinating fact about each one
