Imaginative Play

We have spent a busy few weeks preparing and running the RSPB Big School Birdwatch so it was nice this week to enjoy a different kind of challenge.

The children could decide on any adventure they would like to set up and role play in our Forest School. What a busy afternoon we had, wizards and witches whizzing about, then dropping into the Forest Cafe for a quick snack. Making sure they kept away from the dinosaur lair in case any the grumpy dinos were disturbed. Meanwhile some Stone Age cave men went on a hunt to track down some wild deer (in this case in the shape Christmas trees). Hungry work. Everyone could then pop into the Best Italian Restaurant in the World to refuel on pizza or pasta.

All these wonderful stories were over-seen by the Mighty Super Girls who flew over everything keeping a watchful eye out for danger.

At the end of the session the children shared their stories with each other, this brought on more excitement as ideas were elaborated on. We talked about how we can use stories like this not only in Forest School but when we are on the school yard at break and lunchtimes, sharing the fun with our friends.
