This week, Year 3 have been exploring the remarkable story of Moses. The children worked hard to sequence and retell the key events of his life — from his rescue as a baby to leading the Israelites to freedom — and discussed why Moses is such a significant figure in the Jewish faith. They also learned how Moses received the Ten Commandments, an important set of laws that continue to guide both Jewish and Christian communities today.
To deepen their understanding, the class went on to learn about the Jewish festival of Shavuot, which celebrates the giving of the Ten Commandments (the Torah) at Mount Sinai. The children enjoyed finding out how Jewish families celebrate Shavuot, including decorating homes and synagogues with greenery, enjoying dairy foods, and studying the Torah.
Year 3 showed excellent curiosity, respect, and enthusiasm throughout their learning. Well done, everyone!
