Searching for mini-beasts, tree-climbing, building, investigating, composting, mulching, digging and some really epic moving and handling, our Forest School offers a wealth of nature led experiences for all the children. An opportunity to open their minds and experiment, to push themselves to dig deeper into the natural world around them. They take complete ownership of our site, they all have their favourite little magic places, they all find something to delight every time they come out and experience what our site offers.
You’ll see that this week we have taken delivery of some pallets, kindly supplied by a resident in our local community and delivered, by the always helpful, New Horizon Horticultural Services. As we have been focusing on teamwork across school this was the perfect opportunity to demonstrate this. Year 3 made light work of sorting and moving 20 pallets and were full of ideas about what they could create with them. Some are ear-marked to build new composters and mulchers but the rest will be for the children to use. The help of companies like New Horizons can never be under estimated. Our Forest School is so grateful for the weird and wonderful things they have supplied that keep sparking the imagination of the children. If you think you have anything that the children might be able to use please get in touch with Miss Rowe.
The Holistic Learning Principle: Forest School aims to promote the holistic development of all those involved, fostering resilient, confident, independent and creative learners.
