Growing Beans

We started our new topic ‘Explorers outdoors’ this week, by reading the traditional tale, ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. The children enjoyed having a go at writing their own simple versions of the story and also watched a video of a bean growing. The children learnt that seeds need water to begin growing. In topic time, the children placed beans in plastic bags on wet paper towels. We are hoping that over the next few weeks they will start to grow roots and shoots that we will be able to observe. Once they have started to grow we will replant them in soil in our garden.
