HOLI HAI

Understanding Religions

This week Reception learnt about the Hindu festival of Holi, which is a Spring festival of colour. In art we used many colours of paint and powder to create splatter paintings and explored colour mixing with primary colours. We practiced developing our scissor skills by cutting colourful strips of paper to create collages. On Friday, we enjoyed learning some Bollywood dance moves as part of our PE lesson.

Super Science

The children completed an exciting colourful science experiment this week using Skittles. We positioned skittles around the outside of a plate and poured warm water into the centre. The children watched as a colourful rainbow spread from the skittles to the centre of the plate. We learnt that this happened when the warm water dissolved the sugar that covered the skittles sweets. It was very exciting to watch!
