Holiday Support for Children on Free School Meals

The government have announced extra help for those in need over the winter.  This is part of their Winter Grant Scheme and it will run from now until the end of March, next year.

As part of the scheme, the Council will be giving additional help to vulnerable households and families on a low income with children.

If your child is usually entitled to means tested free school meals, you should get this extra help.

(Please note: This is not for families whose children get a free meal only because they are in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 as part of the Universal Infant Free School Meal programme)

If you are going to be given this extra financial help, you will receive a letter from the Council before Christmas.   Please do not throw this letter away, it will give you details of how you will get a one-off payment this winter.   This money is to help you pay for food, heating and other household items.

You do not need to contact the council.  All the details on how to get the extra help will be in the letter.
