In maths today the children in Year 2 have been using the cuisenaire rods to help them solve an investigation.
The children begun by having some time to play with the equipment and exploring what they noticed about the rods. The boys and girls had lots of wonderful observations about the rods including:
Maisie commented that, “I know each rod can equal a number.”
Tom noticed that 2 white rods were the same as one red rod.
The children then worked very hard to solve an investigation of adding 3 digit numbers to make a total of 10.
Florrie used her knowledge of her number bonds to ten to help her complete the investigation finding all 8 possibilities.
