On Friday afternoons, Year 5 expand their knowledge of French in their half-termly French lessons.
This half-term, Year 5B have been learning how to answer the question “Quel temps fait-il?”, meaning “What is the weather like?” Last week, the children explored five basic weather phrases, learning how to say “it is hot”, “it is cold”, “it is a nice day”, “it is an unpleasant day” and “it is windy.”
This week, the children looked more closely at specific types of weather and learnt how to say “it is sunny”, “it is cloudy”, “it is snowing”, “it is raining” and “it is stormy”. They also used the French conjunctions “et” and “mais” to join two weather phrases together or to contrast them.
Across the two lessons, the children completed reading, listening and writing activities, further developing their understanding of French vocabulary and sentence structure.
