It’s a Festival!

This week Nursery have been learning about the festival of Lunar New Year and celebrating Pancake Day.

We have been very busy this week celebrating two different festivals from around the world. We started by learning about Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Day, and how this is celebrated in our families. We practiced pancake flipping in a frying pan to see who was the best, made playdough pancakes in the playdough area and we tasted pancakes with a choice of toppings too. We chose between chocolate spread, jam, golden syrup or plain.

We have enjoyed learning all about the lunar festival and how it is celebrated around the world. We had lots of fun taking part in different crafts and activities within the classroom such as; making red lanterns with our scissor skills and role playing in the Chinese restaurant. As part of topic this week, we took part in a food tasting session to try a range of different Chinese food flavours. We tried; vegetable spring rolls, prawn crackers, noodles, and sweet chilli sauce. We all then decided if we liked the taste or we did not like the taste using a recording sheet.
