This week, the children investigated clues to find out their new English book.
The children were handed a boarder card and ask to take their seats for Harlow Airlines! We experienced a take off but unfortunately our plane got into difficulty and we crashed landed somewhere strange.
Clues had been laid out around the classroom so the children could solve our mystery landing location . These included what appeared to be broken plane windows, an S.O.S sign, the Brazilian flag and a newspaper article with information that had been redacted.
In small groups, the children investigated each clue and completed a table describing what the clue was and how they thought it might relate back to the book. The children generated some brilliant predictions and were able to link their thoughts back to the clues they had found,
Then, after writing their prediction, the book was revealed! This half-term, the children will be reading ‘The Explorer’ by Katherine Rundell, The children have read three chapters so far and are eagerly anticipating what might happen next to the four children stranded in the Amazon Jungle.
