Coding in Computing

This week in Computing, Year 5 have been exploring coding in Scratch using ‘IF, THEN, ELSE’ programming blocks to create true or false outcomes for different conditions.

To start the lesson, the children recapped their knowledge of an algorithm and created a branching key based on a question which would be asked by their sprite.

Then, children created their own interactive quizzes by programming their sprites to ask a question and respond depending on whether the answer was correct or incorrect. They carefully selected different outcomes for each response, helping them to understand how conditions work within coding.

Some children demonstrated excellent creativity by programming their sprites to change size, switch colour, or deliver messages such as “Well done!” or “Try again!” depending on the player’s answer.
