Stick Safety Training

Stick Safety Training is a fundamental part of our Forest School journey that all our children take part in. We use sticks, branches and logs almost every day so it’s important that the children have time to work out how to do this safely. This then allows the children to have a fuller, more independent Forest School experience, it is the bedrock for our Forest School Safe rule. Reception practiced passing sticks to one another, dragging large branches and carrying logs safely. As the children move through the years at Harlow Green this kind of moving and handling becomes second nature and the children then teach new pupils who may join our school.

The Risk Principle: Forest School offers learners the opportunity to take supported risks appropriate to the environment and to themselves.

Article 19: We all have the right to be protected and kept safe.
