Reception Class Assembly

We were so proud to share our recent class assembly with families and friends, where the children showcased their learning journey from our trip to Hall Hill Farm. The assembly began with an introduction explaining how our visit to the farm linked to all areas of the Early Learning Goals; from exploring the world around us to building communication and language skills. The children confidently spoke about their favourite parts of the trip, for example, holding the chicks, feeding the lambs and riding on a tractor. They also held up pictures they had drawn of their favourite farm animals, each one proudly sharing their personal highlights.

To celebrate our learning in a fun and engaging way, we sang two songs that tied beautifully into our topic learning. First, we performed ‘Farmer Pete’, a catchy number bonds to 10 song about a farmer who kept losing his sheep. Then, we shared with parents and carers that we had planted sunflower seeds and vegetables. We sang ‘Oats, Peas, Beans and Barley Grow’ to show how plants grow.

The children then impressed everyone with their phonics skills by reading a set of instructions aloud to their grown-ups, guiding them step-by-step through the process of planting a seed. Each child was excited to take their planted seed home to watch it grow!
