This week in Reception, we embarked on an exciting journey of learning about recycling! We began by reading the delightful book Somebody Swallowed Stanley, which inspired us to explore where our rubbish goes and how we can help our planet through recycling.
The children enthusiastically learned about different materials our rubbish is made of, and sorted various items such as paper, card, metal, and plastic. Just like Stanley, who was transformed from a plastic bag into a kite, the children created their own kites using paper and string.
We also enjoyed reading I Am Not a Toilet Roll, which sparked our imagination, leading to wonderful creations in our cut-and-stick area from recycled materials. Additionally, we learned about the band ‘Stomp’, who create incredible music using everyday junk materials like bin lids, pots, and pans. The children then made their own musical instruments, inspired by their creativity!
