World War Two

Over the last couple of weeks, we have been studying the history part of our topic focusing on World War Two.

To begin our learning, the children considered the causes of the war and were surprised to learn that there were several different causes not just Hitler and Germany. After this, the children learnt about how World War Two affected society. Comparing the changes in men’s and women’s lives, the children learnt about conscription for the men and the impact this also had on women. The children produced their own ‘Horrible Histories’ page about how the role of women changed producing some beautiful pages. For their final piece of written work in this unit, the children wrote speeches as if they were Winston Churchill. We were extremely impressed with the effort the children all made and their brilliant style of writing. They sounded just like Churchill.
