Finding one less

All of the teachers have been impressed with the fact recall in Year One.

Following on from learning about one more last week, this week we have focused our learning on one less. The week started with some counting backwards. We are learning to count backwards starting from any number under 10. Why don’t you try this at home? Next, we used tens frames to count the counters on and then we removed one to make it one less. Everyone is improving in reciting the STEM sentences e.g. one less than 6 is 5. Later on in the week, the children used number tracks to find one less and even tried to solve a word problem involving subtraction.
