Volume and Capacity

The children have finished their measurement unit: Mass and Capacity. Since returning to school after the Easter break, the children have focused on volume and capacity. They have worked extremely hard to understand the meaning of capacity: the amount a container can hold and volume: the amount of liquid in a container. The children have continued to practise how to read scales and are now confident measuring the volume of a liquid.

At the end of the unit the children were given the opportunity to look at different containers at their table and were able to confidently tell their peers what the capacity of the jugs were. They then filled up the jugs little by little and worked together to read the scales. We are so proud of the children’s determination during this unit.
