Creating Colour Wheels

This week in Art, the children have been investigating colour. To start, the children were introduced to an artist who uses different shades to create contrasting backgrounds. Then, the children investigated different shades of a primary colour by gradually adding white to create a lighter shade and black to create a darker shade.

Today, the children recapped their prior knowledge of primary and secondary colours, as well as identifying what two primary colours create secondary colours. We started to create a colour wheel to show the primary, secondary and tertiary colours, which we will continue next week by mixing both primary and secondary colours to create a tertiary colour.
