Where in the world are we?

In Geography this half term, we reviewed some of our previous learning about compass points and continents then looked at the 5 key lines of latitude that spread out from the Equator.  Narrowing our view of the world down, we focused on Europe, looking at the countries within the continent of Europe and some of the differences between them.

Packed with all sorts of vocabulary like Northern and Southern Hemisphere, Equator, latitude, Arctic and Antarctic Circle and the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, we are able to talk about where places are in the world and also some of the main elements of the climate zones around them.  It is always fascinating looking at the atlases too – spotting where we live, where we’ve been on holiday and how incredibly small as an island we are!
