Lest We Forget

To mark Armistice Day this year, the children have had class assemblies about Remembrance and the children in years 3, 4, 5 and 6 watched a live assembly via zoom held by the literacy trust in partnership with The British Legion . Every child in school, has also created their own poppy made from a paper plate. With these, a Harlow Green field of poppies was created. The children have enjoyed looking at the finished products throughout the day, which we all think is very impressive.

The year 6  head and deputy head boy and girl attended a memorial service at ‘The Boer War Memorial’ in Low Fell. They were joined by the Deputy Mayor, community members and children from other schools to pay their respects to those who fought for their country and those who serve today. They wrote a message of remembrance and laid their wreath at the war memorial.
