Unbelievable Ukulele Players

In music this half term, Year 4 are learning how to play the Ukulele. Mr Langford, from Gateshead Music Service, gave the children a great introduction to the Ukulele this week and also performed some of his own songs which caused a lot of excitement. The children learned all about the history of the stringed instrument and found out that it originated in Portugal but is now more commonly linked to Hawaii. Once the children had learned about the Ukulele, they were each given one to play. They were shown two chords and given some practise time before they all played a song together. The children were thrilled with the outcome of the group performance and were eager to learn more. They are looking forward to being Harlow Green’s first ever ukulele band.
