Make Music Day

Today, Harlow Green celebrated Make Music Day (also known as World Music Day). Our theme was world music and each year group looked at a different country.

Year Six studied Brazil and created their own compositions; Year 5 focused on Cuba and enjoyed Salsa dancing; Year 4 looked at Mexican music and traditions and enjoyed singing a song from the film Coco; and Year Three learned a Jamaican song. In KS1, Year Two studied New Zealand and learned the Haka; Year One studied India and listened to some Bhangra music; and Reception sang some Spanish songs. The children in Nursery also celebrated the day by singing songs and playing percussion instruments.

Some of us were lucky enough to meet Rob Kitchen whose videos ‘Rob’s Kitchen Music’ we all enjoyed over lockdown.  It was great to meet him in person and we had lots of fun learning new songs and playing musical games. One of the other highlights of the day was getting to see our school choir perform – what amazing talent!
