Life Cycles

This week Reception have been learning all about life cycles as part of our continued topic this term ‘Explorers Outdoors’. It has been an extremely exciting week as we received a delivery of tiny caterpillars which we are looking forward to watching grow over the next few weeks. The children learnt their life cycle moving from a caterpillar, into a chrysalis and finally into a butterfly. We cannot wait to see what kind of butterfly they turn out to be and releasing them on the field. We have also looked at the life cycle of a frog and hunted for them in our school pond (unfortunately we might have been a bit too noisy and scared them all away!) Frog life cycles have been our focus for our Literacy writing where we had a go at writing frogspawn, tadpole, froglet and frog using our Fed talk and understanding of Phonic sounds.
