Year 6 children enjoyed a visit from Chef Nick, where they worked in groups to prepare and cook their own Mexican dishes – a chilli and burritos. The chef discussed healthy living and the importance of a balanced diet. It was interesting to see the children mixing the spices with the raw chicken and using knives to cut and dice food for their dishes. At the end, all of the children got a chance to taste their dishes and it was a resounding success! Hopefully, the skills the children learned will help them to cook up a meal at home too.
This visit helped the children to understand the possibilities driver of the curriculum as it showed them a career involving food -and also an understanding of our topic ‘How Precious Life is”
