Year 5 French- Intercultural Understanding

This half term, both classes in Year 5 have enjoyed learning new French vocabulary and phrases based on dates and birthdays on the unit Quelle est la date aujourd’hui? When learning French, the children have the opportunity to practise and develop their speaking, listening, reading, writing and phonics skills. In addition to this, classes have the opportunity to learn about the culture of France and other French speaking countries. This week, Year 5 were asked to consider which symbols, products or objects represent France. We were given lots of fabulous ideas such as food items, landmarks and even Disneyland Paris! Following this, the classes were given some more information about some of these symbols, objects or products and were also able to undertake some research on them. The children then produced an information leaflet about the three things that they felt best represented France. During the week, we have enjoyed reading the leaflets and have learnt some interesting, new facts.

Article 31- We all have the right to take part in cultural and creative activities.
