A trip to the Mandir.

To finish off our RE topic this term we enjoyed a visit to the IKSON Hindu Temple in Newcastle.  Kirtida always gives us such a warm welcome and it is great for the children to be able to put into context and ask questions about the Hindu faith, beliefs and ways that the faith affects people’s lives.

We heard stories and songs about the Gods, watched a traditional prayer ceremony and had the chance to play the drums and dress up in traditional outfits.  Kirtida also helped us put into context some of the key beliefs about the faith that we had studied.

We had the chance to reflect on our visit back in school, looking at why people follow faiths and how it can help and support and guide people’s behaviours.

Article 14 – We have the right to follow our own religion.
