Author Visit

This week, children from Year 1 to Year 6 were fortunate to be visited by the author Saviour Pirotta. He did workshops with each year group where he talked about some of his famous stories, where he gets his inspiration from and how he plans a narrative. He had children in stitches with his humorous tales about his Granny in Malta and how she provided the inspiration for one of his plays. It was interesting to hear that he hadn’t been the best writer at school, and that people doubted his ambition to become an author, but he told the children that the should always follow their dreams and not give up. On World Book Day, all classes will be studying one of his books – and he has asked school to send some of the children’s work as they complete stories following the ladder planning format that he showed us.

It was a great day and one which showed children the possibilities that exist in the future for them as they develop their own love of writing.

My son was excited that he had met a famous author and been one of the first to see his new book!
